Hemetex BV receives AEO certificate
On November 14, 2011 Hemetex BV received the combined AEO Certificate Customs Simplifications / Security, issued by the Dutch customs authorities. This means that Hemetex BV is seen as a safe and reliable partner for all customs operations. Some of the benefits associated with obtaining the AEO certificate are:
- Less physical checks of shipments and documents
- Priority physical checks if your shipment has been selected for a check
- Ability to let the physical check take place at the discharging location.
Het AEO-certificaat wordt door alle lidstaten van de Europese Unie erkend.
Het behalen van de AEO-status geeft ons de mogelijkheid onze dienstverlening nog verder te optimaliseren.
Background on AEO (Authorised Economic Operator)
The attacks that took place in New York on 11 September 2001 have resulted in a great deal of additional international attention to security issues. This has in turn resulted in the introduction of the term ‘safety and security’ in European customs legislation.
Enterprises involved in EU cross-border movements of goods and their suppliers are required to comply with this renewed legislation. When the European Union introduced this legislation it also wished to offer the business community improved facilities. These facilities will reduce logistics delays and the administrative burden imposed on enterprises.
For this reason, as from September 2007 enterprises may apply for the status of Authorised Economic Operator (AEO). AEO certificates are valid in all EU Member States.
For Dutch Customs, this introduction of the AEO status represents the next step in its cooperation with the business community: the AEO concept is compatible with the endeavours to share the responsibility for safe and sound cross-border goods flows between the business community and Customs.
